Burstyn's tips and techniques for handling a feline friend. “All you need to know about cat restraint,” he says, “is squish that cat.” Burstyn stresses the importance of-what else?- squishing. He also suggests using your hand to make a platform for the cat's paws (that way, he says, “I can carry her around quite safely like this and she won't want to get away), toting the cat like a football, and even putting them over your shoulder. Squish, as she was later named, was skin and bones and very sick with an upper-respiratory infection. Her life changed the day her friend who worked at the Oakland Animal Shelter called to tell her she needed to come pick up a very sick squish-faced cat. ![]() Burstyn's recommendations? Keep kitty close and “squish” them into your body. She spent the majority of her career evaluating government programs and policies. Once you've introduced yourself and picked up the cat, it's time to hold them. This not only assures that the cat is comfy it helps avoid scratches, bites, and other not-so-fun injuries for you. To achieve this, place one hand under the cat's chest, and one under their abdomen. Next, he reveals the key to picking up a cat: to make them feel supported. “We just made friends with this wonderful little cat.” Then, he recommends scratching the side of their face or tickling their chin. First, he explains that, when approaching a cat, it's best to keep your fingers curled and to calmly introduce yourself. Burstyn demonstrates how to handle a cat. The only downside to hugging Kyle is that some of his dandruff might flake off on to your clothes causing others to think you have a dandruff problem. In a “helpful” video, Dr. Likes reading, music, cats, visual art, hoarding stuff, conversation, tea, people, languages, dessert, casual gaming and more. ![]() ![]() The combination of these things makes for an excellent hug. ENFPs and Squishes Squish: An intense feeling of attraction, liking, appreciation, admiration for a person you urgently want to get to know better and become close with. Since Kyle has no claws he never tries to fight back. Kyle is able to proved comic relief both day and night simply by existing. Some other cats might think he is “special” due to his poor hygiene and the constant wheezing when he breathes, but he doesn’t take it personally and continues to enjoy life. Since he has no claws (see above) he enjoys the touch of anyone’s nail to his skin… possible too much. The extra pounds sit well on his delicate frame and his permanently crooked ear give him that exotic look. An infection in his mouth also mandated the removal of all his bottom teeth but his receding gum line does not deter him from attempting to look his best every day. He wasn’t even sure it was you at first but those unmistakeable (e/c) eyes and soft (h/c) fur made it clear it was true. This leaves him with a small (read: large) dandruff problem and some greasy fur. When you get turned into a cat he doesn’t know how to react. ![]() Unfortunately, his previous owner removed all his claws and he is unable to scatch himself.
